SATV Stations upgrading equipment. – Over the coming couple of months we will be upgrading our broadcasting system.  Channels 9, 15 & 98 may briefly be interrupted during this time.  The Live Selectmen meetings will also be aired live, but will air in its entirety the next day, as well as be available on our youtube channel. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience. We hope to have all of our upgrading finished in Mid-July.

The Town of Somerset is in the process of developing a new local Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP). The purpose of the MHMP is to develop mitigation strategies designed to reduce the loss of life and property resulting from natural disasters.
As a part of the planning process, the Town created a local planning team made up of local officials to assist in leading the development of the plan. The Town has retained GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. to assist the planning team in the preparation of the plan. Funding for this activity is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA)
A critical component of the planning process is open public involvement where the Town will provide the public with the opportunity to provide input and comments at two public meetings. I attended this first meeting to see if SATV could play a part in Emergency communication to the public before disasters happen.
The focus of the first public meeting introduced the planning framework for the Town of Somerset’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. During the meeting, the public was invited to make comments or suggestions to be documented and considered for inclusion in the Plan. There will be another meeting sometime in Late September/Early October for more input from the public.
