UPDATE: 🏭 Chimney demo delay to SUNDAY MARCH 24th at 8am due to forecasted high winds Saturday. All procedures are the same (just moved from Saturday to Sunday) 🏭

The **3 short chimneys** at Brayton Point will be demo’d this SUNDAY, March 24th at approximately 8am. Demo lasts ~6 seconds.

This is a much smaller event than the cooling towers will be, but procedures are similar as discussed at the public forum. Disruption is minimal.

At roughly 7:00 am local police will enact traffic control measure, and only local traffic will be allowed past certain points.

Rolling road blocks will start approximately 5-10 minutes prior to the implosion.

Somerset Fire Department will set up emergency operations just outside Brayton Point Commerce Center.

Local police and fire will be monitoring both Somerset and Swansea neighborhoods. Residents only will be allowed in and out of the area.

All maps and details shown are found HERE: Brayton Point Implosion Activities - Information & Frequently Asked Questions handout: www.townofsomerset.org/sites/somersetma/files/uploads/brayton_implosion_faqs_-_final.pdf

The Commerce Development Company will be going DOOR TO DOOR with flyers with over 500 copies of the FAQ this week.

Cooling Towers come down April 27th. More updates to follow. A video presented last night shows what to expect in April (we have a 40 ft wall at the base of our towers that will further minimize debris): youtu.be/CI2P1JhUqrk

The 4th chimney demo is TBD.
