SATV is having it’s first Outdoor Christmas Display Contest! We look forward to making this a tradition as it combines the townspeople, businesses (sponsors for the winners), and holiday decorating enthusiasts!
So dust off those lights, trim those outdoor trees and show us how your enthusiasm creates Christmas Cheer for the town of Somerset and it’s people. We want to make this town a place to visit why not start with the one that lights us up!

November 28th – December 17th at 5pm.
Winners will be announced on December 23rd.

1️⃣ Sponsor
The Contest is sponsored and administered by Somerset Access Television (SATV), a community media organization located at 274 Main Street, Somerset, MA 02726. Co-sponsors are three Somerset businesses that will be providing the three (3) prizes listed in the rules.

2️⃣ Eligibility
Open to legal residents of Somerset, MA who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry this includes nominators of the displays and the homeowner whose display is being nominated. Employees, board members, sponsors or immediate family members of any of these may participate but are not eligible to win prizes, meaning they may nominate only. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

3️⃣ How to Enter — Free Entry
No purchase or payment is required to enter or win.
To enter, participants must:
1. Submit the address of the outdoor holiday light display located within Somerset, MA, and
2. Provide contact information (name, phone, email), and
3. Agree to allow SATV to record, photograph, or broadcast the light display on SATV Channel 9, SATV’s Facebook and Youtube and be shared on other digital platforms.
Entries may be submitted during the Entry Period via:

Each person is allowed only one nomination per address. You may nominate other addresses if you wish but only one nomination per person, per address may be submitted for eligibility. Others may also enter the same address for the viewers choice prize. (find out more below on Viewers Choice Prize winner.

4️⃣ Entry Period
Nomination entries will be accepted from November 28, 2025 at 10am ET through December 17, 2025 at 5pm ET.

5️⃣ Judging Criteria
This is a skill-based contest. The 1st Place and Honorable Mention winners will be selected by the official judging panel based on the criteria stated in these Rules. These awards are not chosen by chance.
A separate Viewers’ Choice Award will also be given. All eligible entries will be included in the public voting process. After the judges have selected 1st and honorable mention winners, those winning entries will be removed from Viewers’ Choice consideration, and the Viewers’ Choice Award will be given to the remaining entry that receives the highest number of public nomination votes.
This ensures fairness while keeping the final results a surprise until the winners are officially announced.
Displays will be evaluated by SATV panel using the following weighted criteria:
Category & (Weight)
Creativity & Originality (40%)
Visual Appeal (30%)
Holiday Spirit (20%)
Technical Skill
(lighting setup, use of space) (10%)
Judges’ decisions are final.

6️⃣ Winner Selection & Notification
Judging will take place between December 18, 2025 and December 22, 2025.
Winners will be announced on SATV9, Somerset Sentinel, social media, and somersetaccesstv,org on December 23, 2025.
Winners will be notified using the contact information provided. If a winner cannot be reached within [48 hours], the prize may be awarded to the next highest-scoring entrant.

7️⃣ Prizes
A total of three (3) winners will receive prizes donated by local businesses:
• 1st Place: $50 gift certificate to Auclair’s Market
• Honorable Mention: $25 gift certificate to Ma Raffa’s Somerset
• Viewers’ Choice Award $25 gift certificate to: Somerset Grille
Prizes are non-transferable and may not be substituted. Winners are responsible for any taxes (if applicable).

8️⃣ Broadcast & Publicity Rights
By entering, participants grant SATV a royalty-free, perpetual right to:
• Film, photograph, and broadcast the display
• Use participant name, address area (not full address on screen), and likeness in programming and promotional materials across TV, web, and social media
This includes full permission to air footage as part of a special program and promotional announcements.

9️⃣ Participant Responsibilities and Safety
Displays must comply with local safety and electrical codes. Sponsor is not responsible for:
• Property damage
• Personal injury
• Incorrect or outdated entry contact information
• Technical or broadcast issues
Exterior displays must be visible from public streets. Judges and staff will not enter private property beyond walkways or visible boundaries.

Disqualification
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:
• Contains illegal or offensive material
• Violates safety codes or trespassing laws
• Attempts to manipulate judging or sabotage other displays

General Terms
By entering, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest due to any factors beyond its control.

Personal information is used solely for Contest administration and will not be sold or shared except as necessary for judging and awarding prizes.
